Quilts rock

I sew a lot and therefore I end up with a LOT of scraps...small little bits of colorful fabrics that I simply cannot toss aside. If there is enough available, I cut strips 2 inches wide and for whatever length is allowed. The cuttings from those 2 inch strips go into bags and bags AND bags that are given to a lady who uses them as stuffings.  Nothing is wasted.  NOTHING.  The 2 inch strips can make such a colorful strip quilt such as the one below.  No rhyme or reason on the gatherings of the strips, except for that cute little white square in the center of each block which is the beginning of each block.  .  I have two strip quilts out currently for long arm quilting (thanks thanks thanks to my sweet friend Yvonne).
Here is a close up of some of the blocks.  The block assembly is stable but as you can see the colors and fabric prints are whatever happened to be the length needed for the specific side being sewn.  The biggest job is sitting and sorting out the various lengths so I can grab and sew, grab and sew... And within a very short time indeed, I have a quilt top all ready to sandwich with batting and backing and long arm quilting.  I do have fun.  This is my happy place...
Next week Feb 21-22-23 is the annual Card Over at my house .  Kris and Deb will be up from Tucson, Pat will be here from Sun City West..we will miss Sandy this year.... , the living room will be full of tables, lamps, Cricut machines, Cuttlebugs, embossing folders, papers and the wonderful tools of the trade. And we shall create, visit, laugh and have wonderful meals together.
BTW, Happy Valentine's Day today, my friends.

Annual Quilt/Craft Show Stuff

The annual Quilters/Sewists/Craft Show always starts on the last Thurs of January, and extends for 3 full days of fun shopping, oogling over wonderful products and quilts and talent.  My friend Judi and I hit the show on the first day usually, and this year we went again on Saturday. This is a mere spattering of what I bought on Thursday, and on Saturday I bought fabric packs after fabric packs.  It was like Christmas coming home and opening up the packages and laying out the wonderful buys.

One of my most favorite fabrics is from the Lorelei selections.  This year she had a booth at the show and my friend  Yvonne and I were able to get our photo taken with this lovely talented lady.  And she autographed my CD of the Lorelei collection of cats. There will be a quilt in the near future feating these darling embroidery cats.
Thanks for taking a peek at my adventures.
