I have been so neglectful of my blog that I loved and used so much...mostly when I was very active on the design teams. Now I wing it, making cards by the dozens and sewing until the sewing machines say STOP. Here is a bundle of little gifties I made from a big batch of lovely fabrics a high school friend gave me. First up are several of the little velcro pouches..I do not toss even a small strip of fabrics so those are sewn into little place mats or coasters. The next photo... much loved seat belt covers. These really help to prevent that seat belt to annoy your neck. Also shown are some cross body bags (popular) and some zipper purses. Heavy photo load, sorry.

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVN98jUtns8sNPh99pT_uVBtgyLaXOINccoZ7_7H1ylHWYiUsKqKV5mb_n9RkzqM934V6X_lEqs6wFxVrRzK-GeJi4AKHKS8vDSCdqerNjj0M0j8R2JBSR2VnaBcES7xY2A1mTjnp33YIDYENcfm9rRxQm6wvPR5ndy208SOs2Ht5dTfAbiy0/s4963/VelcroPouch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; I have been sewing dog/cat quilts for the rescues, and there were around 7 that came to pick up my little quilts. I do a lot of paper and sewing arts for graymattersfoundation.org ... my friend Lanette who is the brain tumor support lady..I never seem to not be sewing, paper crafting, knit and crochet and just keep busy. Here are a few of my recent sewing projects... using Loralei fabrics is the best fun. I use even the smallest left over fabrics so you will see a lineup of keychains, lots of fun to make. The Hipster Bags are great, they carry cell phones and some extra little needs for those quick trips, cute little tote with an embroidery teddy bear. ...Whatever I am doing, creating...I am keeping busy at age 85 and loving it. Thanks for stepping by in case you found my blog again.

Carole Beathhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16247297267983757197noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27560875.post-61928141044636372852020-03-31T08:57:00.003-07:002022-11-30T06:54:38.439-07:00Simple Fabric Face Mask TutorialCut two 6 x 9 pieces of 100% cotton.
Cut 1 light weight iron on interfacing or stabilizer. Iron on front piece.
Cut two pieces of 1/4" elastic 7" long.
Add the elastic at each end. Sew the ends to anchor the elastic. Pull elastic inside.

Add backing. Pin all 5 sides but leave an opening for turning .. blue pins indicate that. Sew all around.

Turn right side out. Fold the main piece in half and mark center with pins. This will give you center point to make the 2 pleats. I sew ONLY the long ends. I do not sew, as yet, the ends because multiple stitchings make it difficult to sew down the pleats. One video I looked at shows 3 pleats but this caused a bulkier sew for my particular hand and finger issues.

Fold up each end to create two pleats on each end of the mask.

Sewn each end twice. Pins removed. This is the finished mask.

Pull up on each long end. This opens the mask. In this instances I used a little wider elastic. 1/4" elastic is best...but it is being told that because so so so many are making the masks, availability of elastic is in effect.
But with that said, here I come again with a recent project. I ordered the whiter 1" webbing, then use 1" decorative ribbons to make these cute, wrist-size key chains. The fobs come from Amazon, as does the tool that secures the ribbon/web ends. Convenient to carry, fits over a wrist.
Here are just a few.... Thanks for stopping by. I should pay more attention to my blog.
I am a slam dunk card maker and can whip out a few hundred cards without stress. Right now I have two boxes with about 160 cards that are ready for me to decorate, title, and add an inside sentiment. I have boxes full of Cricut cut sentiments for the front, and I have envelopes full of inside sentiments so once I get started on this stash, it will go quickly. This morning I shamed myself into finally filing and organizing the 14 boxes of completed cards. I make waves of cards and I made new trays, new dividers instead of filing the cards in the already-boxed up trays. I had a mess this morning, believe me...but after about 4 hours, all the cards are filed in their themed spot. I made a promise that I will file as I go and not let this mess happen again. Here's a photo of the boxes this AM before I tackled the chore of re-sorting, filing and organizing.
Shame on me. I loved my blog, and I used to keep it up. Now it seems Facebook has overthrown some of our avenues to show and tell. At any rate, just for fun I am attaching a copy of about 105 quilts that I recently finished for the cat/dog rescue groups. I have about 6 rescue groups that use the quilts. All of the fabrics for these are donated and they are much appreciated.
Hope all is well for anyone here to read this.
I used to keep up with it, and now it seems to hide in the corner. Everyone knows I love to sew, my blog is littered with results of just that. The last 4 months or so I have been sewing smaller quilts for dogs and cats and to be used in the No Kill Shelters and the Rescues. Earlier this year, I had dropped off around 100 quilts to the Humane Society in my district only to find they were being warehoused until "needed". It was then I switched to Rescues and No Kill Shelters. I have met some wonderful folks who devote their lives to care for cats and dogs, to make them well, give them love and try to adopt each one out to a loving family. In the past month I was given several large bags of donated fabrics and it was those fabrics that allowed me to whip up 106 quilts for several of the Rescues. Here is a stack, different sizes for different size dogs. Some went to the vet of a Rescue (Forever Loving Hearts Rescue in Surprise, AZ).I had a little black and white cat visitor who wandered to my yard most likely from The Sahuaro Ranch, a literal dumping ground for unwanted cats, bunnies. Her ear was tipped, the sign that she was at The Park and she was "fixed". She was a loving kitty, so hardly feral, and probably dumped by a family that just didn't want her anymore. Or, of course, she could have gotten lost and wandered to The Park. Forever Loving Hearts Rescue now has Tux to find a forever family for her.
She gave it to me and I made 13 little cat/kitty quilts that I dropped off at the Humane Society. They reminded me when I dropped the quilts off that it is March and they are besotted with sweet newborn kittens. I am so happy I have something they can lay on while they wait for a fur-ever home. Keeping my fingers crossed for each one.
It is my heart's delight to be able to sew. It is my happy spot in life, sewing this n' that, sometimes just to sew up some pretty fabric, many times to sew something special for family or friends to make them smile, and many many times to sew up to donate. I sew a lot for Lanette Veres, http://www.graymattersfoundation.org/, and I love to sew up little quilts for the dogs and cats at the local Humane Society. I can use up scraps of fabric, and they do not care if the quilt is precise or fabric coordinated. Here are some recent quilts for those fur babies.
More to come... I am working on five right now and hope to drop those off this coming week. Concrete floors are cold, the kennels are distressing, it is heartbreaking for sweet pups and cats to wait patiently for a forever home. Adopt. Please adopt...!!!!!

These are zipper purses which are mega-fun to make. This project is done on my embroidery machine and a process called "in the hoop" ...The entire purse is done in the hoop and when it is finished the only thing I need to do is tear away the stabilizer and add a little charm to the zipper pull. You can also see a little stack of "Bulldogs" made of felt and made into key rings. In the hoop as well.
Here are some more baby bibs and with some cute embroidery patterns added. I have also discovered these cute ribbon wrist key chains. Now maybe I can use up some of the trays of ribbons. I ordered the poly webbing and key fobs from Amazon.Prime and now I am ready to make a LOT of the cute and easy to make little key chains.
One spot sports a bulletin board which is a hot mess of cards and notes, photographs and paper projects. Here is a tidy photo, but as of right now, it is covered with lapped over items. A mangled mess but I know where each and every item is, and where they came from and why they are there to make me smile.

One side of my Craft Room is a work station, another side has the delightful machines like Cricut Expression, e-Bosser, metal dies, and tools of the trade while the third table is a delight of sewing machines. My happy place indeed gives me a day full of creating projects I can share.
It gets a little out of hand after a few hours and I stop, sweep, put everything back in the proper place and then I start all over again. Recently I really did a full scale tidy-up, putting 3 extra sewing machines in a closet, reorganizing stacks and stashes. Two years ago I had spent 2 years sewing quilts for the Homeless Veterans in Northern AZ, those precious protectors who were now living in tents in the forest, old cars, or storage sheds. I made 55 quilts for those souls, I crocheted scarves and afghans to help keep them warm in the winter days of Northern Az. Then I covered the sewing machines, put away the cloth projects and rolled across the room to the paper side. I made card after card, creating and happy. Now I am back to sewing,...totes, purses, cell phone cases, napkins, hanging towels, quilts. I am happy girl. Here is my cleaned up Craft Room.
I keep busy... sewing, making cards, crochet, knit.... It keeps my almost 80-mind alert and busy, and my hands, arthritis or not, create things I can share. Today my cherished Lanette Veres of Gray Matters picked up her "stash" that SHE will share with friends who are facing some mighty awful health things in their lives.... loved ones with brain tumors, families in stress and fright. Lynette shines like a bright sun in the lives of those who she surrounds. Here are some things I gave her to share. A few crochet lap afghans to comfort those in waiting rooms, to envelope those in hospital beds, some fleece big bibs that help for the bedridden, and lastly trays of giant colorful words of inspiration, signs to hang, bright and cheery die cuts of flowers and hearts, and stars, and things to brighten a life.
It appears as though I have been sitting by the pool, devouring bonbons but I promise, I work in my craft room every single day, and I create to the hilt. I made around 200 of the Cricut design Open cut cards and some of them are on my eBay shop. Here are a few. Such fun... the Cricut cut makes the card but I find I need to add a little die cut here and there.

There are many more words, die cuts and signs. I am so happy making these, I overloaded the donation. But these are happy colors and hopefully will give inspiration and support from Lanette when she adds them to any room that has need.
Carole Beathhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16247297267983757197noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27560875.post-63998684812530455742016-10-21T10:55:00.000-07:002016-10-21T10:55:07.880-07:00CHEERY SIGNS AND INSPIRATIONFor a while I have been blessed to donate some die cuts and cards and supplies to my cherished friend Lanette Veres who heads up http://www.graymattersfoundation.com/about-graymatters-foundation/lanettes-story/. Lynette has battled many brain tumor surgeries and she has made it her path to help those who will endure such events in their lives. This woman has a glow around her, and she is loved. Recently I did a myriad of larger die cuts that she will use to place in hospital rooms or recovery rooms, or homebound patients recovering from brain surgery. I had a lot of fun making these. It is a heavy post, so sit down if you have the patience to wander through it all.

Those of my friends who visit know that each holiday season I make cards for myself and my sweet daughter in law and son. I love making these cards, and I bounce around from one design to another so I am not flooding the Christmas-Card-Cache with same ole' same ole' stuff. Here are samples of the cards for my precious ones this 2016 Christmas.

Lots of Cricut Cartridge Creations goin' on below....

At the Tuesday Morning shopping visit with my high school friend Barb, I ran across a nice packet of Anna Griffin papers. So pretty in the colors and designs and most of all a nice thick hearty card stock that makes awesome handmade boxes.
My dear friend Cathy closed down her scrapbooking room to make room for her real estate career and of all things she gave ME EVERYTHING. I have spent a few months creating cards and projects using her paper, her sheets and sheets of punch out designs and stickers, words and phrases and all things fun fun fun. She had a whole drawer full of Christmas dies and designs so I made her a lot of Christmas cards. Below are a few more "slam dunks" using this n' that stuff from my friend Cathy. And she will get these, if she wants them. After all she gave me some fun, I can share what I made.

She had sheets of stickers with a sports theme. I think these cards came out nice, and will be fun to send to someone who has a child or grandchild in the sports arena.

Some Christmas poinsettia punch outs, a little girl's confirmation dress, a colorful BOY piece of paper, a cute sticker sheet featuring a baby girl, a strip containing metal shapes for a baby boy and some flower punches. Cute cards, I think and sooooooo easy to make.
I am once again in "clean up" mode. I have stacks of unfinished projects. Things I started on and then for some reason or another, put aside until "later",. I love that word. "Later" ..but eventually that will pop up and slap one in the forehead and say "HEY". I organized my 2 trays of ribbons. In doing so, I came across some really cute ribbons with images, words, themes so I put them aside and decided I would make quick and simply cards to offer on eBay. This is one stack done. Yay for me. I cut the Santa Face from my Doodlecharms Cricut cart, the sentiment is rubber stamped and embossed and the inside is a computer generated sentiment. I love the little ribbon that says "Santa and Me" and a cute little Santa image.

Oh so oh so simple note pads from Dollar Tree. For a buck you get a pad of about 5 or 6 little lined, colorful note pads. Some of these have a folded down cover and some are as simple as folding card stock for an A2 size greeting card. Add a little die cut and mount, maybe some buttons, flowers, fold over or down and you have a quick gift.

A few Wedding themed cards. There are 3 different styles of the Mr. & Mrs. cards. The top blue card has the die cut Mr. and Mrs. dropped off the top layer of the card, while the lower Mr. and Mrs. has the die cut on the front of the card. The third Mr. and Mrs. card was a cut out, leaving a view of the inside sentiment. Lets not forget that cute pink dress with the blue ribbon.
For now, I have exhausted the little drawings that I found stuffed in a folder. I have a few that I didn't use, but let us just say I created with the drawings that I was pleased with.

My friends have seen my frog collection. I have a giant array of stuffed frogs of all sorts and kinds, not only stuffed but wooden frogs, metal frogs, ceramic frogs, frogs covered with crystals and beads... all a gift from a treasured client not only from my working days but gifted long after I retired. I love froggies ..and I even embroidered a quilt with frogs...and I am proud to say I won a First Place Blue Ribbon at the County Fair a few years back.... so it is natural I would love to draw a few frogs.

Here are a few silly froggies.

A little flop-eared bunny. The top says "Happy Bunny Day" and the inside has an Easter sentiment. A frantic hair-standing-on-end friend who says "I forgot, I forgot". Inside it says "I am late, I am late, for a very important date. Happy Birthday". And a colorful rooster who says "Rise n' Shine, it is a very special day". I placed a sample of the inside sentiment.
I bought several of the newer Cricut cartridges that cut out the sentiments and designs. Some are clear in their design, some are not. Here are a few. It is fun to back the front of the card with additional cardstock and colors, but it is also nice to leave the front of the card free of backing which leaves a delicate sentiment and design. The "thank you" card as well as the "merry & Bright" cards have backing on the front, the other two cards are free-cut.

More of the gift bags, such fun to make. I have so so so much 12x12 paper and it is almost a pressure to use it use it use it up. That will never happen unless I live until I am 100 and still functional. (that said with a grin). Nonetheless, these little gift bags are fun and easy to make. I did a tutorial back a few months on how to do these but basically the side sections and bottom sections are scored, then folded over a plastic Cricut cartridge case. Before I glue the back seams together, I add some of the heavier grey card board for the front back and side seams. This gives the bag girth. Then I punch holes on each of the sides, add a ribbon which is anchored inside the seam with a decorative scallop round punch. Then I add the die cuts. Cute bags, love making them...
More hand drawn cards. I draw a master image and then I can make copies, color the images in to make multiple cards. Here is a little ballet girl. Inside says "Dance your birthday".
A few days ago, whether I could justify it or not, I bought two thick packs of 8x8 card stock in pretty colors. Two of these pages make some pretty awesome boxes. There is a tutorial on box making on this blog, and it could not be easier. I scored 2 inches on all 4 sides, (that is the lid) and then the bottom of the box is scored at 2 inches PLUS the next little line. Must be exact or the bottom of the box will tend to fall out of the lid.... cut the scores on both opposing sides. I put a little sticky dot on the outside corner flap, and then a thin line of glue on the larger flap. These fold up to make a very nice box. Add some die cuts. In the boxes below, those are the delightful Dollar Tree die cuts.
